The Tillsonburg Regional Airport renovated the lounge area in August 2024, by providing an opportunity for 17 Designs local artist Stella Jurgen to create a mural of 5 ft wide x 5 ft high.

This was an evolving project as it started with a small space of 5ft wide x 5 ft high on the wall facing the runway. Stella replaced an old sign with two painted airplanes flying over the aerial view of the Lake Erie coast. The Tillsonburg Flying School and BlueStar Air Services were the first sponsors featured on this wall. This triggered airport patrons to participate with sponsorships. The artist decorated all of the walls raising funds for the Town of Tillsonburg to be used for future projects at the Airport. Stella Jurgen donated $1,975 to the Town of Tillsonburg in December 2024.

Thank you to the initial three Platinum sponsors of the feature wall: Ken Edwards, Isaac Froese and John Klassen that made “The Dream” come true with their financial contribution. This wall depicts three children playing and dreaming of flying airplanes in Tillsonburg.

The office wall was sponsored by members of the airport community, participants of the Wings and Wheels event, and the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association.

The SkyWay Cafe also sponsored a dedicated space featuring two hand-painted signs and the Tillsonburg runway.

Total area painted: 310 sq. ft.

Hours to complete: 288 hrs from August 27, 2024 until January 27, 2025

Thank you to all the sponsors of this project.
